All Important Coins Located On The Market by Richard Longdon http://www.coinsinfo.com If you are looking for a sound investment which has regularly paid well over the odds on particularly long term investments the buying and selling of gold and coins must be worth considering. If you're thinking about buying bulk, the cheapest way would be in gold bars, but there are also Krugerrands and Sovereigns to consider. Although there are many other types of gold coins, they are expensive and as a buyer you would need to be quite an authority on the subject. Gold Sovereigns. People like to collect sovereigns because they have a history and they're also smaller and more attractive than other coins. Because of their popularity there is a premium (around 2%) on them but they still give a good return if you are looking for a long term investment. Krugerrands. These are basically one ounce gold bullion coins and are very popular. They can therefore be bought in large quantities and their quality is consistently very high and a perfect one ounce and thus make an effective way for small time investors to start collecting. On the minus side, they don't have any of the history of sovereigns and aren't nearly as attractive. Gold bars. This seems the most sensible method of buying gold but it doesn't make sense if you need to sell part of a kilo bar at any time. The price per ounce will be the same as buying Krugerrands and you can also negotiate discounts for bulk purchases of them. Therefore if you're looking to buy and sell on a regular basis you could well be better off buying Krugerrands rather than bars. Like all other commodities the price of gold fluctuates and pitching in when you think a good time to buy or sell needs good advice or a keen knowledge of the market. The accepted format is that if you can buy within ten per cent of the bottom of the market and can sell within ten per cent of the top of the market, you are doing well. If you want to do some homework, you find live gold prices in different areas around the world on several websites. When you have bought your coins keep them warm and dry. If they look dirty only wash them in warm soapy water and don't be tempted to use any strong cleaning fluids or strong brushes. Because gold is a 'noble' metal and very soft it can be easily damaged and you can therefore easily lose your investment. If you are in any doubt then ask a professional for advice and probably get them to do the cleaning for you. |
